Amidst the raw discord between the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun, two sisters fight on opposing sides of a war between magical technologies and competing beliefs. Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took several years to create. After the release of the first season, Riot announced that there will be a second season and that it will take less time to produce.

I liked it quickly and devoured the entire season in one sitting

But despite that, this is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. I just finished watching the first episode of the new adaptation of The Wheel of Time, and after being disappointed with that one, I looked for something else and saw that it was getting good reviews. Arcane does everything right that so many shows and movies get wrong these days. They respect all of their characters, making sure you understand why they do what they do and making you empathize with them. They take enough time to draw you into the story and the world before the major plot points happen so that you really feel their impact.

A special mention must go to the animators

They set things up well in advance and make sure to give them a proper payoff so that nothing feels rushed or cheap. And something that’s all too rare these days; they’re not afraid to give all of their characters flaws and allow them to fail, no matter their gender or how powerful they’re supposed to be. This is a show with two female leads who can dominate anyone, and neither of them feels like they don’t deserve it. And not once did they feel the need to put the men down to show how great they are. Take note, creators of other shows, this is how you write powerful characters, regardless of gender, that your audience can feel invested in.

And also kudos for the choice of voice actors and music, both of which are top notch

Kudos for being able to create characters that can communicate strong and subtle feelings more clearly than most real actors can. Overall, a very enjoyable show that gives me a glimmer of hope for future entertainment, waiting for season 2.
